Ermenegildo Zegna

Menswear company Ermenegildo Zegna's history began in 1910 in North Italy with the dream and passion of a single man. At the age of 18, Ermenegildo Zegna founded the Lanificio Zegna (lanificio means wool weaving mill) in Trivero, Italy, wishing to make the most beautiful fabrics of the world. However, Zegna hat a greater vision, he wanted to improve the environment and the lives of the people surrounding him. In 1932, he had a medical centre and a kindergarten built in Trivero. At the same time, Ermenegildo Zegna began to reforest the region of the Alps right behind his factory. As a philanthropist, he also built the Panoramica Zegna road down to the town of Biella, so that the people of the region were able to enjoy the beauties of the landscape. It turns out that the Alp region he picked for his factory was perfectly well chosen, as the wool could be washed in the pure and soft water, helping to lead the company to worldwide success. In addition to that, Zegna only bought the best natural fibres and kept developing his products and production processes. In the beginning of the 1980s, every part of the process from the Australian sheep farm to the Italian factory over the Swiss tailoring factories and the stores worldwide were his, enabling Ermenegildo Zegna to keep a close eye on quality. Research has always played a great role in the company's success, leading to the development of fabric treatments such as Trofeo, High Performance and Elements. The company still stands for perfectly cut ready-to-wear, high-end accessories and luxe tailor-made suits. Its two main labels are now Ermenegildo Zegna and Z Zegna. The latter proposes more casual T-shirts, sneakers, cardigans and polo shirts for him. Shop Ermenegildo Zegna's and Z Zegna's menswear collections at Bongénie Grieder.
